2020 has been full of the unexpected. Although this year has been challenging in many ways, Ray & Poynor is excited to celebrate a big anniversary as a company. As we close out the tenth month of our tenth year in business, we’re taking a look back at where we started and looking ahead to a bright future.
Ray & Poynor Properties began in 2010 when the two of us merged our experience, learning, ideas and skills. Our goal was to create a new company where the people in our organization were our highest priority.
To be sure, 2010 was not an ideal time to start a real estate company. The Great Recession was still in full swing. But we forged ahead and set out to build a company with a productivity per realtor higher than anybody had ever seen.
Ten years later, we’re happy to say we are achieving our goals.
Our Company Today
Today, Ray & Poynor is recognized for our experience and expertise in the industry. We serve as a trusted home resource for our buyers and sellers in the Birmingham area.
We’ve achieved a great deal in the last decade. Most recently, in 2019 Ray & Poynor realtors increased our number of units sold and our sales volume, despite historically low levels in Birmingham’s home inventory. In 2020, we’ve maintained our productivity despite unprecedented circumstances.
The average volume per agent in our company is $4.8 million—a production number that is unmatched by any other company in the Greater Alabama MLS. We also own the highest average list and sales price of the Top Ten Greater Alabama MLS companies.
Of course, this would not be possible without our realtors. Our goal is not to achieve a certain number of homes sold, but to empower realtors with the ability and knowledge to sell a house and guide our clients along the way. Our realtors are active in the Birmingham market and engaged in the community, and without their success we wouldn’t have a company.
While productivity and sales are important, the reason we are here today is because Ray & Poynor has always operated as more of a family than a corporation. This is not to say that we don’t have challenges like every family, but we care about one another. We care about our realtors and staff, their children and their families.
We also deeply value our relationships with our clients and their families. We want them to know we are here for them beyond a single transaction as a resource when they need us.
We are proud of our history within the real estate industry. However, we strive to improve the homebuying and selling experience each day. That’s why we put our realtors first and focus on training and learning opportunities. We want to give our best to our realtors so we can in turn give our best to our clients.
Our company’s success would not be possible without our realtors and staff, our clients and our community. We thank all of you for your support over the last ten years. We look forward to guiding you home for the next ten years and beyond!
